Privacy Policy

Last Updated: September 20, 2026 • Effective Date: September 20, 2026

Our Core Privacy Promise

Clipmory is built on an offline-first architecture. 100% of your clipboard data remains strictly on your Mac. We do not collect, transmit, inspect, or sell your clipboard contents, passwords, or personal files.

1. Overview & Architectural Model

Clipmory ("we", "us", or "the App") is developed as a native macOS productivity tool. We believe that your clipboard contains some of your most sensitive information — passwords, API tokens, personal messages, and confidential work documents.

Because of this, Clipmory operates on a strictly localized model:

  • Local SQLite Database: All copied clips (text, formatted rich text, images, code snippets, files, links) are stored solely in your local Mac user directory at ~/Library/Application Support/Clipmory/.
  • Zero Server Infrastructure for Clips: We do not operate remote databases or cloud servers that receive or process your clipboard data.
  • Zero In-App Telemetry: The desktop app does not include third-party tracking SDKs, advertising trackers, or behavioral telemetry.

2. Data We Do NOT Collect

To be completely clear, Clipmory does not collect or store on any external server:

  • Your clipboard contents or clipboard history
  • Your search queries or clip labels
  • Keystrokes, keyboard logs, or active window titles
  • Passwords, API credentials, or certificates copied on your machine
  • Files, images, screenshots, or documents you interact with

3. Privacy Shield & Biometric Authentication

Clipmory includes a built-in Privacy Shield designed to automatically identify sensitive patterns (such as API keys, private keys, SSH credentials, and credit card numbers) and mask them in the user interface.

When you reveal shielded items via Touch ID or system password:

  • Authentication is handled entirely by Apple's native LocalAuthentication framework.
  • Biometric data remains in Apple's Secure Enclave and is never accessible to Clipmory or sent over any network.

4. Optional iCloud Sync

If you explicitly choose to turn on iCloud Sync (which is turned OFF by default):

  • Your encrypted clips synchronize directly between your personal Apple devices using Apple's CloudKit framework.
  • All data is stored in your personal, private iCloud container tied to your own Apple ID.
  • Clipmory developers have zero access to your iCloud data or your encryption keys.

5. Website & Purchase Information

When you visit our marketing website (clipmory.app) or purchase a license:

  • Website Analytics: We use privacy-conscious Google Analytics via Google Tag Manager to collect aggregate, anonymized website visit data (such as page views and download button clicks). IP addresses are anonymized.
  • Payment Processing: Payments and licensing are processed by our Merchant of Record, Creem (creem.io). When you purchase a license, Creem handles payment processing, billing, and tax collection under their Privacy Policy. We receive only transaction confirmation data (license key and purchase email) necessary to issue and activate your software license.

6. User Control & Data Deletion

You have complete sovereignty over your data at all times:

  • Delete Individual Clips: You can delete any clip immediately using the Delete action or Backspace key.
  • Clear All History: You can clear your entire clipboard history with one click inside the app.
  • App Exclusion Rules: You can configure Clipmory to ignore copies from sensitive applications such as 1Password, Bitwarden, or Apple Keychain.
  • Complete Removal: Deleting the application and removing the directory ~/Library/Application Support/Clipmory/ completely removes all traces of stored data.

7. macOS App Sandboxing & Security

Clipmory is notarized by Apple, runs with macOS Hardened Runtime, and adheres to Apple's security guidelines. Local storage is protected by standard macOS file system permissions and file-level access controls.

8. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect software updates or legal requirements. Any modifications will be posted on this page with an updated revision date.
